How to play Gamedle
You get one mystery video game each day and six tries to name it. The game changes at 00:00 UTC, and everyone gets the same one.
The steps
- Watch the clip. Each game starts with one second of screenshots. You can also switch to a blurry picture or to text clues.
- Type a game and pick it from the list. You get six tries. Skip uses a try without guessing.
- Read the colors. Green is an exact match, yellow is close, and grey is wrong. Arrows show if the answer is newer or older.
- Use what opens next. Each try adds one more second of clip, a clearer picture and one more clue. Name the game before your tries run out.
What each color means
- Green is an exact match.
- Yellow is close. The year is within 3 years, the genres or platforms partly match, or the theme is related.
- Grey means no match.
- ▲ next to the year means the answer is newer. ▼ means it is older.
Timeline
You start with one game and its year. Place each new game above or below the others, with the oldest at the top. Three mistakes ends the run.
Unlimited
Play random games with no daily limit, and pick a pack like retro games, RPGs or shooters. These games do not count for your streak.
Streaks, leaderboard and leagues
Solve the daily game on its own day to keep your streak. Pick a player name to join the public leaderboard, or start a private league with friends, where each daily win gives 7 points minus the tries you used.
